According to Curbed Boston, a six-story, 49-unit condo building is coming to Boston's Brighton neighborhood as the area continues to become more residential and less commercial. The Boston Planning and Development Agency approved plans by the City Realty Group, which is also working on other condo projects in town. The new building will include 12 studios, 21 one-bedrooms, 13 two-bedrooms, and three three-bedrooms. Six units will be income-restricted.
The project is also expected to have 52 off-street parking spaces and room for around 54 bikes. As part of the plan for 50 Leo Birmingham, City Realty has agreed to contribute to improvements and maintenance at Portsmouth Street Playground and Murray Field, according to the BPDA.
City Realty expects to start construction in February, with completion in March 2021. Fifty Leo Birmingham will join other residential projects in an area just off Western Avenue that until now had long been known for its commercial real estate.
