According to the Houston Chronicle, Colorado-based Century Communities is starting work on a new residential development next summer in Fulshear which is west of Houston. The development known as Polo Ranch, is looking to fill the affordable, starter-home niche by offering homes priced from the $160,000s that range in size from 1,200 to 3,400 square feet. The city approved the plan earlier this year for the 218 acre project.

Located near the Fulbrook and Weston Lakes communities, Polo Ranch will include a recreation center with a swimming pool, playgrounds and parks. "Fulshear is undergoing an amazing transformation from a small town located near Houston to a thriving community within the region," Chris Chew, Century's Houston division president, said in the Tuesday announcement. Century Communities is a national home builder based in Greenwood Village, Colo. The company recently purchased Wade Jurney Homes, which recently began selling affordable homes on the outskirts of Houston.
