Kentucky is coming to Northwest Florida, with Fischer Homes buying local builder Samuel Taylor Homes for an undisclosed amount.
Erlanger, Kentucky–based Fischer Homes is ranked 30th on the 2023 Builder 100 list, with a focus on Cincinnati and Louisville, Kentucky. It’s also a major builder in Atlanta; Indianapolis; Ohio's Columbus and Dayton; and St. Louis.
“Florida is a natural expansion for us, given the state’s population growth and our presence in the Southeast,” CEO Tim McMahon told BUILDER. “In addition to the fantastic team that Samuel Taylor has in place, we are also excited to partner with their trade and development partners—they are a huge part of our planned growth and success in Northwest Florida.”
The deal is set to close in mid-December, with Fischer Homes actively selling homes by the end of the year. The private home builder has been in business for over 40 years since 1980 with over 38,000 homes built.
“We are always looking for the right market and team for further expansion,” McMahon said. “As we look at acquisition opportunities, we want to find the right partner who shares our mission to build quality homes and deliver an exceptional experience to our customers. This is why we are thrilled to combine our efforts with the Samuel Taylor Homes team, who share our same values.”
Founded in 2011 by Matt Brandman and Hunter Collins, Samuel Taylor Homes has built over 800 homes throughout the Northwest Florida area. Known for its quality construction, it is building in Bay County communities in Panama City and Panama City Beach.
Brandman will serve as market president of the new Florida Gulf Coast Division for Fischer Homes.
“Once we met the Fischer Homes team, we knew right away that becoming part of the Fischer Homes family would be a win-win for the Samuel Taylor team and our customers,” Brandman said. “Both companies are focused on delivering the best total new-home customer solution, have a thriving company culture, and see the enormous potential of this market.”
Fischer Homes has doubled its home closings since 2016 and doubled its revenue since 2018. The builder continues to expand in its existing markets while at the same time adding to its footprint with new regions that are the right fit with its portfolio of award-winning home designs and expertise in creating communities with enduring value.
“The type of support that our home building divisions receive from our corporate teams is unparalleled,” said Fischer Homes president and chief operating officer Jay Smith. “Now is the right time to bring our companies together to create instant scale in a market with rapid growth with a solid team already in place.”
