Mattamy Homes said Monday it was entering the Southeast Florida market with a new division to be headed by Lara Swanson, an industry veteran most recently with Meritage Homes.
“We believe that Southeast Florida is a highly desirable and active geographic area, and will nicely complement our other divisions in terms of strategic growth in the US,” said Jim Leiferman, President of Mattamy’s U.S. Group. “It represents the next great opportunity for us to build the Mattamy brand and business in a large and growing market.”
Swanson joined the company on May 8 as President, Southeast Florida Division. Most recently she was the Division Vice President in S.E. Florida for Meritage Homes, where she led the formation of this start-up division. She was also the VP of Land for Meritage in Orlando. Previously she was in land acquisition and development for Pulte in Orlando and for CSX and The Wood Development Co. in Jacksonville. Swanson has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida and is a licensed Community Association Manager by the State of Florida.
Swanson will be responsible for leading all aspects of Mattamy’s business in Southeast Florida. Her initial responsibilities will be to source, analyze and submit land acquisition proposals, and then to quickly grow the Southeast Florida operation into an operating Division. She will also be setting up an office locally and hiring staff as needed.
