Las Cruces, New Mexico-based builder Hakes Brothers has announced a donation to the San Antonio Food Bank to support Texas residents affected by the recent historic snowstorm. This contribution will support 100,000 meals for those in need, based on estimates that the organization can provide seven meals for every dollar donated.
Hakes Brothers, currently ranked No. 102 on the BUILDER 100’s Next 100, has built over 3,000 homes since its founding in 2006. It is currently the largest home builder based in New Mexico, and recently expanded into the San Antonio market, where it has been building homes for under a year. Through the pandemic and following the snowstorm, the Hakes Brothers team sought an opportunity to help San Antonio’s residents, building on the company’s tradition of local community support.
“Our team witnessed firsthand the effects this natural event had on the local community,” said Dan Nielsen, president of Hakes Brothers, Rio Grande Division. “Our hearts go out to those who have endured hardship in San Antonio and throughout the state of Texas. As a homebuilder, we believe in doing our part to build up communities and provide a positive impact.”
The San Antonio Food Bank provides meals for 58,000 individuals per week in one of the largest food bank service areas in Texas. “With so many people in need throughout the area, the impact of this donation is far reaching,” said Eric S. Cooper, President & CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank. “We are grateful to caring business partners like Hakes Brothers who are there when our residents need them the most.”
