The nonprofit Architecture for Humanity is auctioning off over 70 artworks by architects as a fundraising effort. AfH asked the participating architects, who include Frank Gehry, Michael Graves, Renzo Piano, Richard Rogers, and Richard Meier, to show why they love architecture--and, as expected, the question elicited a wide range of imaginative responses.
I was pleased to also see some of our past story subjects on the list, including Marlon Blackwell, 5468796 architecture, Michelle Kaufmann, and Peter Bohlin. (The 18-by-18-inch pastel above is by John Lee of BAR Architects, whose San Francisco office space we covered last year.) Hand sketches, painting, prints, models, and more are available--the auction ends this Friday, though, so if you're interested, move quickly.--M.D.
