Nevis Pool and Garden Pavilion

Bethesda, Md.

1 MIN READ

Many mornings the Nevis family picks up their breakfast and heads out to their garden pavilion to start the day. And, why wouldn’t they? The glass-walled structure overlooks the pool and garden on one side and a lovely wooded lot on the other.

On warm days the pavilion’s glass walls pivot to bring in the breezes, and on cool days there’s a Rumford fireplace at one end to warm it. Natural materials, including mahogany walls and a Douglas fir ceiling bring warmth to the glass-enclosed space. Stone, in the form of bluestone floors and tiny pieces of meticulously stacked slate encasing fireplace and exterior walls, adds another touch from nature.

Inside and out mesh seamlessly: Even the bar stools in the casual seating area have a view of the pool through a thoughtfully placed horizontal window.
