This year’s Sustainable Disaster Recovery Conference—happening Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 in St. Louis—will be co-hosted by The Center for Sustainability at Saint Louis University, Greensburg GreenTown in Greensburg, Kan., and GreenTown (Missouri) Joplin.
The event will focus on green, post-disaster rebuilding practices and includes keynote addresses from Joyce Cacho, Ph.D., a sustainability consultant with Adinura Advisory, and author and meteorologist Mike Smith. Breakout sessions will feature discussions with disaster management and sustainable recovery experts from areas in the lower Midwest recently ravished by storms, including Joplin, Mo.-based builder Will Perkins of Good Will Builders; directors at the American Institute of Architects’ Center for Communities by Design; and experts from the Emergency Management Program at Western Illinois University and Saint Louis University’s Earth and Atmospheric Sciences program. Early bird registration has been extended through Sept. 27.
