Wireless home controls power themselves.

1 MIN READ

EnOcean’s modules enable home controls to go wireless and harbor technology to power themselves, meaning homeowners don’t have to replace batteries. The modules can be found inside a variety of manufacturers’ home controls, including HVAC controls, light switches, occupancy sensors, and more. A full list can be found on the company’s Web site.

Products can use motion, such as pressing a switch, or small changes in heat or indoor light to get power. They can operate without maintenance for more than 20 years, the manufacturer says.

“The benefits are that installation is cheaper and you can place the controls anywhere,” says Jim O’Callaghan, vice president of sales and marketing in North America for EnOcean.

Powerful Control

EnOcean-enabled controls don’t need external wiring and power themselves. Applications include lighting controls and leak detectors. A full list of products is available on the manufacturer’s Web site. EnOcean. 801.733.6118. www.enocean.com.

Controls qualify for a LEED point and are compliant with California’s Title 24.
