Behind the Numbers:Beazer Homes took more orders and delivered more houses than it did in the last quarter of 2011, but profitability eluded the company. In the earnings release statement Beazer CEO Allan Merrill focused on operational improvements and the increased order and closing numbers.

“We remain committed to our path-to-profitability strategies, which are designed to enable us to return to sustained profitability as soon as possible. The same day Beazer released its financial results it announced it intends to raise capital by offering $200 million in private bonds with the plan to use the proceeds to pay off other debts and “for general corporate purposes.”

Beazer’s 2012 fiscal year ended Sept. 30.
