Project Description

Sinai Hospital of Baltimore pioneered a visionary image in emergency room care with the design of ER-7.

The hospital wanted to improve customer service, show increased concern for patient/family privacy needs, and decrease triage time.

To meet these goals, the space was configured to greet and evaluate patients immediately upon arrival. Patients are then sent to treatment areas specific to their needs. Doctors, support staff, and equipment are available immediately for diagnosis and treatment. In addition, small, private waiting rooms were created and differentiated for adults and children. Waiting rooms for adults were equipped with televisions and telephones, while the rooms for children have televisions and games.

The emergency room addition was a fast-track project, requiring only 13 months from start of construction to opening.
