Needs Work

A survey conducted by Deloitte & Touche of 350 senior executives in the real estate and construction industry found that nearly 50 percent report an increase in construction-related disputes over the past few years, but that Web-based tools that are marketed as a way to avoid disputes are effective only about 25 percent of the time. The managers do note, however, that Web software does offer some benefits. Of the 128 managers who use Web-based technology, 56 percent say that Web software delivers faster turnaround, 49 percent note that it improves controls, and 47 percent say that the software increases accountability.
