PERFECT SEGUEFor SunRiver St. George, adding Honeywell's integrated automation system is the perfect complement to the community's fiber-optic network. Stewart says that about two years ago, SunRiver brought in TriAxis, a Utah-based networking company that convinced the developer to install a fiber-optic network throughout the community. TriAxis offers voice, data, and video services for $99 a month. Clint Brower, company chairman, says that instead of converting fiber to copper close to the house, TriAxis does the conversion at a centralized node in a neighborhood. Each node covers about 150 homes.
Doing it this way, Brower says, reduces the cost of an uninterruptible power supply as well as maintenance costs because TriAxis doesn't have to convert from fiber to copper at every residence.
