TIPS FOR A MEMORABLE MOVE-IN
  • In a phase with several buyers scheduled to close at the same time, assign specific move-in days. That way, the streets aren't clogged with moving vans, and the sales consultants can spend time with each buyer on their special day.
  • Consider stopping by with a light supper or some snacks on move-in day. Buyers probably have all their dishes, pots, and pans in boxes and will be too tired to cook and too grubby to go out.
  • Look and listen for clues from your buyers to find ways to personalize the experience. For instance, if you notice that they always drink herbal tea during visits to the sales center, tuck a box and a mug into their gift basket. Or if a buyer mentions that he really likes the pen he's using to sign a document, give him one to fill out any follow-up surveys.
  • Have moving trucks available for buyers to use at no cost. Use the sides of the trucks as rolling billboards to tell everyone that the family inside is on its way to move into one of your new homes.
  • Include the kids and the pets in the celebration. Moving into a home is a big day in the life of every family member. Kids might appreciate an address book and a disposable camera so that they can keep in touch with all their old friends and keep track of new ones. A dog or cat tag with the new address and phone number would be a thoughtful gift.
