Zuri Hector, one of the owners of One Main Street Partners, in Bellevue, Wash., wants to bring luxury condo living complete with home automation to a diverse clientele.
Bellevue is literally minutes from downtown Seattle, a location Hector believes will appeal to young, tech-savvy couples as well as empty-nesters in their 60s looking to enjoy the benefits of downtown living.
“When it came to home automation, we needed something as simple and seamless as possible,” Hector explains. He chose the HIP 100 wireless controller from Lagotek, mainly because it let Main Street Partners offer a touchscreen system that’s easy to use for the empty-nesters, but is scalable enough to let the younger generation add high-tech upgrades.
Each condo will have one HIP 100 controller as standard, a home-control device that comes with 802.11 wireless capability and two light switches. The HIP 100 controllers will be integrated into a front-door access system that will let homeowners view visitors through security cameras before they enter the residence.
Home buyers can add lighting, distributed audio, intercom, and additional security cameras throughout the house to the system for about $15,000. For another $5,000, buyers can also install whole-house video control via Windows Media Center, which would take advantage of the structured wiring that comes standard in every unit.
The 62-unit, 10-story complex will feature an additional 5,000 square feet of retail space. Prices for the one-, two-, and three-bedroom units start in the low 400s and run up to $2 million.
