NVR, Inc., Reston (MYSE:NVR) on Monday announced it was named an "ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year" for 2011 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The designation cites NVR's commitment to and innovation in building and promoting Energy Star qualified homes. NVR's home building brands include Ryan Homes, NVHomes, Fox Ridge Homes and Rymarc Homes.
NVR began qualifying every home to ENERGY STAR standards at the beginning of 2010. It claims to have built more ENERGY STAR qualified homes than any other homebuilder in 2010 and has, to date, built more than 10,000 ENERGY STAR homes.
"Partners like NVR that build homes that earn the ENERGY STAR qualification are helping American home buyers find more comfortable homes that also save money on energy bills and protect the environment," said Elizabeth Craig, acting director of EPA's Office of Atmospheric Programs. "Home builders such as NVR are building an energy-efficient future for America's families that will continue to deliver savings for years to come."
