A new wide-span door could make it easier to enhance your home plans. Western Window Systems is adding its first vinyl multi-slide door system to its Volume Program, the company has announced. Available in January 2015, the new addition comes in response to production home builders' requests for more indoor/outdoor living solutions that stand up to the elements.
Energy efficiency was a prime goal in construction of the Series 3600 Vinyl Multi-Slide Door. Each unit will feature a lower U-factor and reduced solar heat gain coefficient compared with similar products, and dual-pane Low-E glass with warm edge thermoplastic spacer technology. Western Window Systems says designers will see the same level of craftsmanship for the vinyl product as they've come to expect from the brand's aluminum windows and doors. Options for the 3600 Vinyl Multi-Slide will include a flush sill, retractable screen, and rolling panels that can be stacked or slid into pockets for an unobstructed view.
Chief Operating Officer Scott Gates tells BUILDER the Series 3600 fits in well with the company's Volume Program, which was designed to help builders differentiate homes and drive sales. The new vinyl option "gives them a new solution to indoor/outdoor living that's strong and energy efficient, has the same clean and contemporary look as our aluminum door systems, and complements homes utilizing vinyl windows and doors," Gates says. The company hopes the vinyl introduction will help the brand expand its reach around the country.
Builders who tend to opt for vinyl windows now can add a vinyl wide-span solution into their home designs where they might not have had the option before. Additionally, the reduced production lead time afforded by the Volume Program will be attractive to many builders. Gates says Western Windows currently has aluminum multi-slide and bi-fold doors in nearly 400 communities across the country, and growing. "With the Series 3600 Vinyl Multi-Slide Door, we hope to attract the attention of builders in the Midwest, Southeast - especially Florida - Northeast, and Northwest parts of the U.S. in search of a vinyl door that combines strength and energy efficiency with the same commitment to clean design, premium materials, and high quality craftsmanship found in our aluminum products."
