The Crib on Nanjemoy Creek, Nanjemoy, Md.

The Crib on Nanjemoy Creek is modeled after traditional American corn cribs. 8-foot-tall lower-level walls made of concrete masonry units support the structure and protect it from floods.

A garage-style door to the creek side of the building helps conserve interior and deck space.

A fold-up kitchen transforms into a simple living room wall.

The kitchen opens up easily whenever the residents need to prepare food.

Jeffery Broadhurst designed the Crib's parts to be prefabricated in a workshop and assembled on the site.
