Restoration/Renovation of and Addition to Historic Vaucluse, Machipongo, Va.

As part of its restoration and renovation of Historic Vaucluse, Muse Architects returned the home's front exterior to its original state.

Part of the process involved restoring the twin entry porches on the home's front facade.

The newly added kitchen and breakfast room maintain a modest scale in deference to the main house.

The new breakfast room provides a gracious place for casual dining.

The open-timber kitchen ceiling lets extra sunlight and ventilation pass through the space.
