The home is organized around a series of courtyards and outdoor spaces in a design that, like many in Southern California, takes advantage of the climate and blurs the line between inside and outside living.

The owners have a large and growing family with several children. The priority was to create a calm, relaxed, and organized environment with shared family space, as well as places for entertaining for both grownups and teenagers.

Many aspects of the home are energy wise, including the materials used for construction, such as this concrete garage door.

The solar array is integrated into the design of the roof overhang. At 12 kW, it’s the largest of its type currently allowable for residential use.
