Hover House 2, Los Angeles

The Hover House experiments with uniting the front and rear yards on a small urban lot.

Visitors are greeted in the outdoor terrace beneath the protective overhang, which parallels the street to complete the neighborhood "edge."

Inside, a "tree house"—the master bedroom closet—floats above the living room.

A glass bridge connects the slatted volume to a playroom on the house's opposite side.

Light filters down into the kitchen through clerestories and the glass bridge.

Pushing the house to the long side of the lot allows the outdoor spaces to flow.
