Custom Builder's New Headquarters is Old

A farmhouse near Raleigh, N.C., once marked for demolition, became the offices of Cotton Custom Construction.

It took Bill Cotton about three years to win the approvals, move, and renovate the 100-year-old farmhouse in Apex, N.C.

Before moving and renovation, the farmhouse sat perilously close to a road that had been widened for a new housing development.

The farmhouse was moved about 40 feet; its former barns and outbuildings were repositioned as well to relatively match their former circle around the house.
