Crystal Springs Barn Kitchen, St. Helena, Calif.

In this Napa Valley barn, old meets new.

The restored barn serves as a smaller companion dwelling to a bigger house, with an entire first-floor that's just under 600 square feet.

The barn's old stone walls are 3 feet thick. The reclaimed Douglas planks used for the walls and ceiling look especially warm and luxurious next to the old stone wall.

An impressive mix of materials work together in this kitchen: Old stone, reclaimed fir, drywall, concrete, and Caesarstone

Structural posts have been added on the barn's interio, making possible a second-floor with bedrooms and a sitting area.
