Builders and Developers Inject New Life Into Abandoned Subdivisions

Water Ride The Canoe Club, a 599-acre community in Fayette County, Ga., that Reynolds Signature Communities is completing, will have a total of 363 homes and cottages that surround the community’s most striking amenity, its two private lakes. The community will also include 58 acres of green space and 12 acres of recreational space.

Centrally Located Coral Ridges is a 21-acre golf course neighborhood in Washington City, Utah, which Henry Walker Homes acquired from Midlands State Bank. The community, located near national and state parks, is part of a 201-homesite master plan, of which 24 sites were already fully improved. The Energy Star–certified townhouses being built at Coral Ridges range from 1,800 to 2,600 square feet and are priced from $170,000 to $300,000.

Finishing Up When Watt Communities acquired Amber Woods in Vista, Calif., from a bank, 17 of its 43 units had already been sold and occupied. The city was willing to work with Watt on controlling costs for water and sewer infrastructure. The two-story houses at Amber Woods range from 2,004, to 2,693 square feet. In June, Watt’s website promoted a new phase release in the community with homes priced at $369,900.
