Survey Says …

Customer satisfaction scores are up.

By Jill Ralph. The results of J.D. Power and Associates’ 6th annual home building survey are in. Among the findings: the top scores are higher than they were in 2001 in all but one market. The survey of 56,000 owners of newly built single-family homes shows that buyers’ perception of how well builders deliver on their promises is not tied to the size of the builder or to the price of the home. Another bit of intelligence that shouldn’t surprise builders is that the Internet is becoming an increasingly important tool to provide consumers with sales and marketing information — 7 percent more buyers accessed home builders’ Web sites while home shopping than did the previous year’s respondents.
