Custom Home's Leah Demirjian reports that London's David Gill Gallery has opened "UltraStellar", an exhibit that celebrates the legacy of iconc architect Zaha Hadid.
The exhibit is named for the final furniture collection the late architect created for Gill, who was a long-term gallerist and friend of Hadid’s before she suffered a fatal heart attack earlier this year. The new creations are notable for their mid-century inspired walnut and leather composition in lieu of clear acrylic—Hadid’s medium of choice.
Also on display are three additions to the 2012 and 2015 "Liquid Glacial" collection, including a coffee table called "Luna". Presented in the firm's signature, hand-polished acrylic, Luna is based on a similar design Hadid originally released in marble back in 2014. The expanded collection also includes a winged chandelier—which has been touted as the line's centerpiece—in metal and crystal, and will be revealed for the first time since Hadid previewed a prototype two years ago.
