New figures from the cable channel HGTV suggest that even if the American Dream of homeownership for millennials has been delayed, it hasn't been abandoned. The Boston Globe quotes HGTV as saying its weekly viewership among people aged 21 to 34 has risen 16% in the past year.
“There’s a fantasy of how millennials want to live,” Miranda Banks, an associate professor of visual and media arts at Emerson College, told the newspaper. This fantasy is taking place at a time when, according to the online real estate site Trulia, the number of starter homes on the market nationwide dropped by 12.3% between April 2015 and April 2016.
