Dezeen's Amy Frearson shares the latest pre-fabricated housing design from Portugal-based design firm MIMA House, which was established by architects Mario Sousa and Marta Brandao to offer affordable, high-quality homes that can be assembled easily and quickly.

MIMA Light, the company's most simple model yet, comprises a single rectangular block. Available in a variety of colors and sizes, the design features a mirrored base that creates the impression that the house is floating above the ground.

Offering various layouts, the building can function as a simple one-room home, or it can be divided up into separate living and sleeping areas. Alternatively, it could be used as an office or commercial space... Externally the house is clad with aluminum panels, which come in a variety of shades and tones, while the interior is lined with pine wood to offer a sense of warmth to occupants. It is available either furnished or unfurnished.
