In fact, a research by the National Association of Realtors shows that more and more single men and women--as well as unmarried couples--are crossing the threshhold in to owning. To their surprise, the best markets are not simply places with a high number of singles, but rather places in more favorable conditions for singles when it comes to homeownership.

The top 10 markets for single home buyers are: Minneapolis, Minn., Indianapolis, Ind., Raleigh, N.C., Birmingham, Ala., Atlanta, Ga., Denver, Colo., Nashville, Tenn., St. Louis, Mo., Orlando, Fla., and Pittsburgh, Pa.
