While cities like San Antonio and New England get the sweet taste of sports victory, what about the miserable sports cities like Cleveland? Forbes staffer Chris Smith ranks the cities that have experienced heartbreaks, in other words, the most miserable sports cities.
The cities that make up the top three are Buffalo (four straight Super Bowl losses), Cleveland (zero titles in last 50 years), and San Diego (only city to never claim a title in a major sport since 1966). Here is the critieria used to determine miserly levels:
Sports misery comes in many forms. There are cities that have gone decades without celebrating a championship victory. There are the tantalizingly close misses of deep postseason runs that have come up just short of glory. And then there are the massive holes left by teams that relocate to new hometowns.
