Southern California is known for its great weather, so, naturally, its residents and guests spend a lot of their time outdoors. The region has many walkable areas that get a lot of foot traffic, like the Walk of Fame and the Gaslamp district in San Diego, but Redfin analysts set out to identify the most walkable neighborhoods in SoCal that aren’t just great places to visit but also great places to live.

The list was limited to neighborhoods in cities with populations between 1,000 and 300,000 people from San Diego to Santa Barbara.

West Downtown, Santa Barbara took first place with a Walk Score of 92. “Downtown Santa Barbara’s westside is truly a walker’s paradise,” said Redfin real estate agent in Santa Barbara John Venti. “It’s rare to find a community in Southern California that is highly walkable and also has beautiful single-family homes.

City Center, Glendale and Ocean Park, Santa Monica rounded out the top three.
