Automotive company Tesla recently announced its Tesla Summon which will allow users to "summon" their Tesla. WIRED staffer David Pierce takes a look at this idea which will allow a user's car to open their garage, start up, and meet them at the edge drive way where they press a button.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk believes that this is only the first step in the automation process:
Give it two more years, he said, and “you’ll be able to summon your car from across the country.” After that, it’ll sync with your calendar to ensure your ride is waiting when your meeting ends. Summon sets the stage for a self-driving car network of one: Your Tesla’s there when you need it, and you don’t worry about it the rest of the time.
But will it fetch? The kids, for instance.
