SpareFoot teamed up with job site Indeed to find the 10 metro areas with the most job listings for web developers. Indeed also provided SpareFoot with the average salary data for web developers in those markets.

Here's a good case of the nexus of data and action. The rankings actually come from a mash-up of data on the listings with other payroll and real estate data points. I.e.:

We then ranked those cities by the following factors: job availability, average annual salary, median home price and median annual rent. Finally, we combined the rankings (giving double weight to job availability) to determine an overall ranking. If you're walking the streets in these metros, you better get your user story straight.
