Architect Michael Anderson, Abstract Architecture, is designing a residence that will be largely constructed with shipping containers that will be built over two vacant lots on Buffalo's Louisina Street. Buffalo Business First reporter James Fink takes a look at the planned private residence which will feature five of these containers as well as traditional wood frames.
The two-story, 1,528-square-foot home will be constructed for Buffalo resident Michael Heidinger who will use it as a personal residence as well as to house his strength training business. Heifdinger is not the first person in Buffalo to want a house made of these containers typically found aboard freight ships:
Heidinger is the second area resident to use shipping containers as the base for his home. Last summer, the planning board approved plans for a private residence on Vandalia Street that is being built with six shipping containers.
