Redfin took a look at the average commute time for the 12 most and least expensive metros and to no surprise, the average commute times in the majority of the most expensive metros are longer than the national average of 25.7 minutes. Staffer Alex Starace explains that commute times reflect driving, public transit, and even walking/biking to work.
Some are seeing that they can leave these popular cities and long commutes do to the fact that jobs are no longer as geographically-bound as they once were:
