Portland's Pearl District gets the No. 1 ranking as most-walkable neighborhood in the city.

Walkable neighborhoods are the new hipster haunts of every city, rendering sketchy transitional blocks into hot markets for Realtors and house hunters alike.

Here's the Redfin Walk Score final word on the top 10 walkable neighbs in Portland, Ore., and validation for each from Redfin analyst Matthew Brennan, who's hip to Portland's eclectic urban culture. He writes of Pearl District, for example:

Next to downtown and north of Burnside, nearly every amenity is steps away. “You’ll find newly constructed condos and renovated warehouses,” Brennan said. The neighborhood has been revitalized in the past 15 to 20 years, in large part due to a government rebuilding program. Known for its great restaurants and unique boutiques, the Pearl District is also home to the largest used book store in the country, Powell’s Books.
