Local builder sales rose 55% in May compared to a year ago, reports Jonathan Lansner, staffer at The Orange County (Calif.) Register.

He breaks down CoreLogic’s housing report for the 22 business days ending May 20 showed builder sales totaled 420. Median selling price for local new homes was $821,000, down 7.2% from a year ago.

Overall, Orange County's median selling price for all residences was $645,000 – up 6.6% compared to a year ago. Price gains were widespread with increases in 58 of 83 Orange County ZIP codes compared to the previous year.
