Sacramento Business Journal staffer Ben van der Meer reports that on Tuesday, the National Association of Home Builders Sales & Marketing Council named The Cannery in Davis its Master-Planned Community of the Year.
Here's a link to the Nationals winners' book.
The background here is this: The Cannery involves turning what used to be a tomato cannery on the north side of the city into a residential community, with mixed-use, recreational and agricultural components. The first of what will eventually be 547 homes in the project began to sell last year. van der Meer writes:
Southern California-based New Home Co. said the award was being shared with its marketing partners, including architecture firms, marketing partners and homebuilders such as CalAtlantic and Shea Homes.
