“Every apartment has been designed to enhance and respect the architecture of Jean Nouvel,” said Thierry Despont, the architect behind Pontiac Land’s new American-born apartment building lobby. He explained how he “approached the design of 53W53 as if each residence was a private home commission.” Having already secured a few buyers in its native land, Pontiac turns its eye to Hong Kong, whose borders boast the second highest number of billionaires according to Savills Market in Minutes, behind only NYC. The luxury apartment building will stand over 1,000 feet high and, by expanding neighbor MoMA’s 2nd, 4th, and 5th floors, unit buyers will receive the title of “Benefactor W53”, gaining exclusive MoMA membership benefits and privileges. Only the rich and famous, though, will gain access to the private events the building plans to host in MoMA’s sculpture garden as the smallest rooms (1 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom) start at $3 million. “Buyers could be anyone from investors, those looking for a new home, or those looking for a trophy home,” said VP of Marketing for Pontiac Land Lynn Toh.
