At the Republican National convention last week, Melania Trump was accused of copying fragments of a speech previously given by First Lady Michelle Obama. While their speeches may be the same, their homes are certainly different. Redfin staffer Alanna Finn takes us inside the two women's homes.
Melania's main residence is the NYC penthouse at Trump Tower. The not-so-humble abode has three levels with stunning views of Central Park. The opulent crib also has 24-carat gold and diamond accents with tons of marble and hand-painted ceiling murals. The luxurious home is said to be valued at $100 million.
Technically, Michelle's home is still The White House. But when President Obama leaves office, the family will move to a historic home in D.C.'s Kalorama neighborhood. The family has opted to rent a 6,000-square-foot historic home, which was bought for about $5.3 million back in 2014. There is no word on what their monthly rent will look like. The castle-esque exterior is different from what the Obamas are used to at the White House, but there’s an even greater contrast compared to the NYC Trump penthouse.
