The Orange County Register's Jonathan Lansner reports on the departure of a major figure in the Orange County development market:

Dan Young, who guided the Irvine Company’s bold home building efforts out of the recession, is leaving the giant developer.

Young, who formally held the title of president of Irvine Co. Community Development, has been with the company since 1999 and oversaw its residential home building efforts since 2007.

In a note to company employees, Young wrote that he was leaving June 30 “to pursue my entire entrepreneurial roots.” He said was starting a Newport Beach business, Camino Enterprises, and would continue to be an adviser to Irvine Co. chairman and owner Donald Bren.
