Houston's Partners in Building is known for building on individual lots and master-planned communities, reports The Houston Business Journal's Paul Takahashi. The company, which has developed in areas around the city of Houston, is about to undertake an ambitious project in the city.
Fountain Park will feature 24 town homes and 34 single-family detached cottages surrounded by green space, a community park and fountain. Partners in Building partnered with Woodley Associates, a Denver-based architect, to design the stone, stucco and Hardie wood plank homes, which feature unique architectural designs like metal roofs.
The builder came up with the plan through focus groups.
The home builder found that buyers wanted first-floor living, instead of walking up to the kitchen and living area on the second floor. They also found that buyers, particularly empty nesters, wanted a more community feel with gated entryways, a central park and extra parking for guests.
