According to a Redfin survey, 27% of home buyers believe that the election will hurt the housing market, an increase from the 15% measured in February. Redfin staffer Lorraine Woellert takes a look at the results of this survey of 200 people: 40% milliennial and 37% first-time home buyers.
Respondents do not have much faith in any of the candidates actually helping the housing market (10%) but most are staying put regardless of who wins the election (60%). The candidate who is believe to be the most likely to help the housing market is Senator Bernie Sanders:
Among White House hopefuls, Sanders continued to command an edge, with 26.5 percent of buyers in our survey endorsing him as the best candidate for housing. Those respondents also were more likely to be first-time buyers worried about affordability and high rents.
