According to the recent Dodge Data 7 and Analytics survey, green building is doubling every three years, and tenants are demanding more sustainability.
The report surveyed over 1,000 building professionals in 69 countries to understand what is going on with green building and the expectations for 2018. The survey also researched possible barriers to green building development. More than half of the surveyors said higher cost was the top barrier.
“There is some work to do, but this data shows the benefits of green buildings are real. Roughly 70 percent of survey respondents cite lower operating costs as the greatest benefit – and these results provide a roadmap to continue growing this important segment,” added Bob McDonough, President, UTC Climate, Controls & Security. “It becomes a cycle as building owners seek to create healthy, energy-efficient and productive environments – as a selling point to tenants.”
