MarketWatch's Sally French reports on statements made by Google's David Vos at the annual Air Traffic Control Association's conference about it's new drone initiative, Project Wings.
The comment follows viral video of the Google X drone that was first tweeted out by Aaref Hilaly. The drone can fly five miles in five minutes and be used to deliver disaster relief supplies, according to Hilaly. While Google is setting a target of 2017 to have its project fully operational, history suggests it could take a little longer:
Of course, just because Google X says that it can deliver packages via drone by 2017 doesn't mean that it will. After all Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos said in a 2013 interview with 60 minutes that drone delivery could come as early as 2015---and that has yet to happen.
