But the fight in San Francisco has raised the possibility that one day there could be an even bigger dog in town — if tech companies like Airbnb choose to assume that role.

In the days since voters rejected Proposition F, Airbnb executives have made clear that they are set on expanding the company's political clout beyond the Bay Area.
