Four states recently passed measures affecting state codes, which ASHRAE summed up in an article for SBC Magazine.

In Connecticut as of Oct. 1st, new technical corrections for the 2016 State Building Code and 2016 Fire Safety Code became effective for all new permits.

In Michigan, the State updated its energy codes with revisions contained in the 2015 IECC and ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2013.

Minnesota adopted a new energy plan called the 2025 Energy Action Plan, which lays a path to meet or exceed a renewable energy goal. The new plan will reduce the state's dependency on outside energy sources by increasing Minnesota's use of clean energy.

Washington is putting a carbon tax up for a vote in November, which would make it the first policy of its kind in America, if it's passed.
