Courtney and Bob Novogratz, and their seven children, have made headlines for redesigning dozens of properties all over the world and creating a DIY empire with books and reality shows. Tech Insider reporter Megan Willett takes a look inside the DIY remodeling family's latest project, a 1920s castle that they now call home.

The family sold their New York City home to move to California's Hollywood Hills, where they completely redid "The Castle" in a 10-month long remodeling process that transformed a seven-bedroom home into a four-bedroom home--yes, a four-bedroom home for a family of nine. The couple says that this is their favorite project so far and it "feels like home for the first time."

Of the redesign process, Bob Novogratz says: "We wanted to keep the history of the house and update the outside," he told Tech Insider. "We kind of gutted the inside and made it more modern." The family tore down walls and ceilings to create bigger and more open spaces with open floor plans to give the home a friendlier personality.

The entire process is chronicled in the new 10-episode Novogratz web series for, "The Castle Next Door."
