A new monorail system has been pitched for Sandy Springs, Ga., a city outside of Atlanta, reports the Atlanta Business Chronicle's Carla Caldwell. The system would resemble the monorails in Walt Disney theme parks. Looking to solve Atlanta's traffic congestion, the monorail would be less expensive than the city's existing MARTA system.

“If Disney can move a hundred thousand people a day, we can do it, and compared to MARTA, the costs are marginal,” the city’s Planning Commission chair Lee Duncan said at the group's Nov. 19 meeting.

The system would run from the City Springs redevelopment to MARTA stations and loop through Perimeter Center.
