Condos could be coming into west Rancho Cucamonga, according to notices of filing along the historic Sycamore Inn property.

Pacific Summit-Foothill LLC has applied for permission to build 175 condo units on 24 acres of land along the north side of Foothill Boulevard, at the western approach to Rancho Cuchamonga, CA, according to David Allen of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.

The development site forms a U-shape around the site of the Sycamore Inn, a steakhouse that has been in operation since 1848, and two Notices of Filing have been placed on either side of the restaurant. Chuck Keagle, current operator of the Sycamore Inn, does not predict that the development will have any negative effects on his business. He says that development is “a year, maybe two years away.”

City spokeswoman Francie Palmer says plans are preliminary and no hearings are scheduled yet. We’ll keep an eye out — and enjoy the unspoiled view while we can.
